Knit an Adorable Pumpkin Hat!
Take a class to cast on in community and learn to make this pumpkin hat. Whether it's your first hat or hundredth, you can have fun in this fall knitting class. Made with DK or light worsted weight yarn, it will work up quickly and be ready for fall.
Dates: Saturday 10/12 and Saturday 10/19 (this is a two-part class)
Class Part 1: Casting on, reading the chart, working the body of the hat
Class Part 2: Color change to start stem, decreasing for the crown, overview of i-cord detail and finishing your hat

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop, 10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is behind the building with driveway located off of North Street)

Description: In this class, you'll learn about simple hat construction. With Chris as your guide, you'll cast on your hat, work in a simple knit/purl pattern, work a chart of colorwork (using two colors at the same time!) and bind off in an i-cord for the stem detail. Whether you’re a first-time hat knitter or an experienced hat maker wanting to knit in community, you’ll come away with some fiber friends and an adorable pumpkin hat!
Prerequisites: Participants should be comfortable with basic knitting skills (knit stitch and casting on). Purling and working in the round are helpful but not necessary.
Techniques you can learn: Long Tail Cast On, Working in the Round, Reading a chart for knit/purl stitch pattern, Knitting small circumference with double pointed needles or magic loop, Simple Stranded colorwork and reading from a chart, binding off and working an i-cord.

What You Need:
- US Size 4 (3.5mm) needles, double pointed AND circular 16" (or your preferred small circumference needle, a 32" will achieve magic loop method) or the size you need to meet gauge
- US Size 0 (2.00mm) needles double pointed for the stem
- 50-100g DK or Light Worsted Weight yarn (orange)
- 50g DK or Light Worsted Weight yarn (green)
- Darning needle
- Stitch marker for working in the round
- Scissors
Homework: Review the pattern and determine what size hat you'll be knitting. Purchase your supplies and yarn. Knit a gauge swatch to determine if you meet gauge.
