“Two At A Time” Knit Socks Class

Learn to Knit Socks TAAT! 

Do you suffer from second sock syndrome? Do you make one sock and at the thought of casting on the second sock, hide it away in a project bag to be forgotten with other sad single socks? Get ready to learn how to knit your socks TWO AT A TIME (TAAT)! That second sock won’t be just a thought anymore, it’ll dangle alongside your first sock and they’ll be finished together.

We will use magic loop method to knit ribbed socks (DRK Everyday Sock pattern) from the toe up. You will have instruction and guidance each step of the way and learn tips for how to work your socks at the same time. 

Dates: Tuesday 10/8 and Tuesday 10/22 (this is a two-part class)

Class 1: toe-up cast on (Turkish Cast on), working the foot two at a time magic loop in ribbing

Class 2: Fleegle Heel, rejoining in the round to work the leg of your socks

Time: 6:30-8p

Description: In this class, you'll learn about sock construction. With Chris as your guide, you’ll explore how to cast on at the toe, knit using the magic loop method, turn a heel using the Fleegle Heel method and finish with a loose bind off. Whether you’re a first-time sock knitter or a devotee eager to explore a new method, you’ll come away with a fun new set of knitting skills and some very fun socks! 

Prerequisites: knitting, purling, knitting in the round. Participants should be comfortable with basic knitting skills. Previous experience with small-diameter knitting is helpful but not necessary.

Techniques you will learn: Magic Loop, Turkish Cast On, Fleegle Heel, knitting socks two at a time via magic loop, Binding off loosely

What You Need:

• 1 set US Size 1 [2.25 mm] 40" (or longer) circular needles (We recommend Chiagoo Red Lace Circular needles for the flexibility and ease of use)
• Sock Weight yarn in the amount for size you choose to knit (84-530 yards)

Homework: Review the pattern and determine what size socks you'll be knitting. Knit a gauge swatch to choose the correct size needles for your tension.
