Learn to Crochet: Ribbed Scarf 

Do you want to learn a new hobby as cooler weather settles in? Keep your hands busy while you're cozy watching Netflix at night? Learn to crochet! This simple scarf is a fun way to learn the basic stitch of crochet. Pick a color shifting yarn to create stripes and intrigue. 

Dates: This is a two part class

Class 1:Thursday, October 30th (materials overview, reading the pattern, slip knot, chain)

Class 2: Thursday, November 6th (single crochet stitch, rib stitch, finishing your scarf)

Time: 6-7:30p

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is located behind the building with a driveway off of North St)

Skill Level: Absolute Beginner

 

This is a workshop for ages 18 and up. Please plan to arrange childcare for your kids if you choose to attend class. Kids are great! But you will focus more without them and they will learn better in a kids only class experience. 

Description: Learn to crochet by making this cozy scarf. Single crochet stitch through the back loop creates this ribbed texture. You'll learn the basics so you can build on your skills! 

Prerequisites: None! You can be an absolute beginner or take this class to refresh your skills and learn in community. 

Techniques you will learn: Slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet through the back loop, finishing and weaving in ends, adding optional fringe.

What's Included:

  • A printed copy of the pattern.

What You Need:

  • DK or Worsted Weight Yarn about 230 yards
  • 6.0mm/J Crochet Hook, or size recommended by the yarn you choose
