Intermediate Crochet Stitches

This class is for crocheters who are comfortable with the basic stitches and are ready to expand their skill set. During this two-hour class, Sarah will teach you how to do foundation stitches, which are a great alternative to starting a chain, and how to create interesting textures by working in the front loop only/back loop only/third loop only and working front post/back post stitches. As we learn these techniques, we will make several practice rows of each stitch that can then be turned into a headband at the end of the class.

Time: 10-12p

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is located behind the building with a driveway off of North St) 

Teacher: Sarah Epplin

Sarah is a Latin teacher by day and an avid crocheter at most other waking moments. She learned to crochet in college for stress relief and quickly fell in love with the fiber arts. She frequently crochets sample garments and shawls for yarn dyers and has recently ventured into writing patterns. Sarah is excited to help other crafters expand their crochet skill sets.

Skill Level: Next step crochet (beyond basics) 

Description: learn to go beyond the basics with intermediate crochet stitches and build onto your skills. 

Prerequisites: chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet

Techniques you will learn: foundation stitches, create textures by working front post/back loop only/back post stitches

What You Need:

  • 5mm or 5.5mm crochet hook
  • 1 Skein of #4/Worsted yarn
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
