Kids Knitting: Learn to Knit!

Finally! A class at Connected Stitches just for kids! Jyoti has over 20 years of teaching experience and is excited to bring this workshop here for our local kids to learn to knit. They’ll work through knitting basics to complete a wool hat or stuffie. This is a four-part class that runs for fifty minutes every Thursday January 8th-January 29th. 

Dates: 

Class 1: Thursday, January 8th

Class 2: Thursday, January 15th

Class 3: Thursday, January 22nd

Class 4: Thursday, January 29th 

Time: 4-4:50pm

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is located behind the building with a driveway off of North St) 

Teacher: Jyoti

With over 20 years teaching experience which includes a Waldorf School Handwork and Art Teacher and Artist Education in Oregon Public schools, Jyoti is offering classes in knitting, crocheting, and weaving to students 7-12 years old and also adults. 

Cost: $80

Max Number of Participants: 8

Skill Level: beginner. 7-12 years old. (Adults are welcomed to register and join their kids in this class to learn to knit! You must register and pay for each participant.)

Description: students will learn to knit and make their own hat on circular needles. The class will begin with instructions on knit stitch and then purl stitch. The more advanced students will learn to knit a hat. The more beginning students will learn to make knitted stuffed animals. 

Prerequisites: None. This is a beginner class for kids.

Techniques you will learn: knit stitch, purl stitch, using circular needles 

What's Included:

  • a four week teaching series on knitting for kids 
  • stitch marker 
  • tapestry needle

What You Need:

  • US 10 Circular Knitting needles 16” long (wood or bamboo is recommended)

  • single ply aran weight yarn (Valley Yarns Berkshire is recommended)  

  • scissors
