Crochet Tapestry Squares
This is a skills builder class for crochet. Students should know crochet basics like chains and single crochet. You will learn basic color work skills like color changes, floats, carries, and bobbins. After some practice, you'll use graph paper and plan out a two color design. Then you'll learn how to read and mark the crochet grid, make your foundation chain, change colors when you need to and work up your square design.
Teacher: Nicole Sly
Nicole is a crochet artist and high school science teacher at New Roots Charter School. She learned to crochet just over two years ago when the school's Fiber Arts Club needed an advisor, and one of the students taught her the basics of crochet. Her love for crochet has since exploded, and she has developed specialities in color work and lace. Nicole has a background in science curriculum design which has lent itself well to pattern writing and creating other crochet teaching tools. Outside of crochet, Nicole is working on her knitting skills and is training to hike the White Mountains this summer!
