Kids Crochet: Learn to Crochet!

A class at Connected Stitches just for kids! Jyoti has over 20 years of teaching experience and is excited to bring this workshop here for our local kids to learn to crochet. They’ll work through crochet basics to complete a hat. This is a Three-part class that runs for fifty minutes every Thursday March 12th-March 26th. 

Dates: 

Class 1: Thursday, March 12th

Class 2: Thursday, March 19th

Class 3: Thursday, March 26th


Time: 4:30-5:20pm

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is located behind the building with a driveway off of North St) 

Teacher: Jyoti

With over 20 years teaching experience which includes a Waldorf School Handwork and Art Teacher and Artist Education in Oregon Public schools, Jyoti is offering classes in knitting, crocheting, and weaving to students 7-12 years old and also adults. 

Cost: $60

Max Number of Participants: 8

Skill Level: beginner. 7-12 years old. (Adults are welcomed to register and join their kids in this class to learn to knit! You must register and pay for each participant.)

Description: students will learn to crochet and make their own hat. The class will begin with instructions on making a chain and crochet stitches. The more advanced students will learn to crochet a hat.

Prerequisites: None. This is a beginner class for kids.

Techniques you will learn: making a slip knot, chain, crochet stitches, holding a crochet hook and yarn

What's Included:

  • a three week teaching series on crochet for kids 
  • tapestry needle
  • A 10% discount on all supplies purchased at Connected Stitches 

What You Need:

  • I-9/5.50mm crochet hook

  • single ply worsted weight yarn (Valley Yarns Berkshire is recommended) you can bring more than one color if you would like. A single ply yarn is best for learning but a two ply is fine too.  

  • scissors
