Vest Supported Knit Along (KAL)

Join us at Connected Stitches for a winter supported KAL! We will be working on knitted vests. This is a community supported project, you will work on your own knit vest and have the opportunity to ask questions and get advice throughout the process from other knitters. There is NO committed teaching time, but Chits or Alyssa will be present to guide and encourage. 

We encourage you to join every knitting session so you can complete your vest, but understand if you can't make it to every one! See the gathering schedule below to see what we will aim to work on each week.

Dates: 

Gathering 1 (Thursday 1/22 6-7:30p): Casting on and starting the vest

Gathering 2 (Saturday 1/31 1:00-2:30p): Continued knitting and support

Gathering 3 (Saturday 2/7 1:00-2:30p): Continued knitting and support

Gathering 4 (Thursday 2/12 6-7:30p): Continued knitting and support

Gathering 5 (Thursday 2/26 6-7:30p): Binding off and finishing

Time: Thursdays are 6-7:30p, Saturday is 1:00-2:30p

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is located behind the building with a driveway off of North St) 

Cost: $5

Max Number of Participants: Not limited

Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced

Description: You choose whatever yarn you would like for the pattern. There are two different vest options and a number of different yarns will work for each vest. We will work through the pattern and support each other in community, there is no official "teaching" session.

Prerequisites: experience knitting is a bonus but beginners are also encouraged to join. You should have basic knitting skills as this is not an official class time (knitting, purling, casting on, binding off)

*You can purchase in store from Connected Stitches (it will link to your Ravelry account and/or email) and we will print the pattern for you! 

What's Included: 

  • A 10% discount on all supplies purchased at Connected Stitches 

What You Need:

    • Yarn required for your chosen vest/size
    • Size knitting needles needed to obtain gauge
    • notions (stitch markers, darning needle, scissors, buttons, etc)

All participants will receive a 10% discount on supplies at Connected Stitches.

Homework: Purchase your supplies. Knit a gauge swatch to choose the correct size needles for your tension.
