Embroider your Holiday Knitting

Ready to customize a basic sweater with wool embroidery?(No knitting required!) Learn what kinds of yarns to use and get tips for selecting sweaters and accessories suitable for embellishment. Explore a variety of embroidery stitches and practice on a sweater scrap. Just in time for the holidays, learn some specific embellishments for this cozy time of year!

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is located behind the building with a driveway off of North St) 

Teacher: Betz White

Betz White believes in thoughtful design, skilled craftsmanship, and the creative spark inside each one of us. She specializes in a unique offering of playful patterns, curated kits, and online classes for the modern maker. Skill Level: Beginner

Description: Embellish your hand knit gifts by adding embroidered details to sweaters and accessories. Learn basic embroidery stitches as well as tips and tricks for stitching on knits with tapestry wool or yarn from your own stash.

Supplies to bring: scissors, stash yarn, knit swatches or sweaters.

Supplies provided: Tapestry wool, needles, stabilizer, handout, extra swatches

Homework: Students will need to bring an 8" x 8" practice swatch plus an accessory, sweater, Christmas stocking, or a second swatch to stitch on. (It can be a thrift store sweater or scrap or felted wool).
