The Flax Sweater Supported Knit Along (KAL)

Join us at Connected Stitches this Fall for another supported KAL! We will be working on the Flax Sweater by Tin Can Knits, led by local knitter, Josefine. This is a community supported project, you will work on your own sweater and have the opportunity to ask questions and get advice throughout the process from other knitters. There is NO committed teaching time, but Josefine will be present to guide and encourage. 

We encourage you to join every knitting session so you can complete your sweater, but understand if you can't make it to every one! See the gathering schedule below to see what we will aim to work on each week. 

Dates: Tuesdays this Fall (9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 11/5)

Gathering 1 (9/17): Casting on, working through ribbing and starting the yoke

Gathering 2 (10/1): Separating for sleeves and working on the body

Gathering 3 (10/15): Binding off the body and picking up for sleeves 

Gathering 4 (11/5): Finishing your sweater

Time: 6:30-8:30p

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is located behind the building with a driveway off of North St) 

Teacher: Josefine (Chris will be avialable as well)

Cost: FREE!

Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced

Description: You can choose to knit any size of the Flax Worsted Sweater! We will work through the pattern and support each other in community, there is no official "teaching" session. Tin Can Knits has thorough videos to go along with this pattern as well if it's your first sweater experience. 

Prerequisites: experience knitting garments is a bonus but beginners are also encouraged to join. You should have basic knitting skills as this is not an official class time (knitting, purling, casting on, binding off, working in the round).

What's Included:

• A printed copy of the pattern 
• A 10% discount on all supplies purchased at Connected Stitches 

What You Need:

• Worsted/aran weight yarn for your chosen size sweater
• Stitch markers
• Darning Needle
• US size 6 (4mm) circular/dpn needles according to your size
• US size 8 (5mm) circular/dpn needles according to your size

*Or whatever size needles you need to obtain gauge for this pattern*

Homework: Knit a gauge swatch to choose the correct size needles for your tension.
