Has it been years since you have picked up knitting needles? Do you want to learn a new craft that is both relaxing and engaging? Do you only knit flat objects like scarves and want to expand your skills? Take this workshop as a refresher class or to learn to knit a hat with ribbing! We carefully build on skills so you will come away with a simple folded brim hat, and the knitting basics you need to tackle your next projects.

All your supplies are included except knitting needles!
Session One Dates: Fridays 10/30 and 11/13 (this is a TWO PART class!)
Time: 10a-12p
Session Two Dates: Thursdays 11/5 and 11/19 (this is a TWO PART class!)
Time: 6-8p
Class 1: Casting on, joining in the round, the knit stitch, purl stitch, and ribbing pattern

Class 2: Decreasing the crown, transferring stitches to double pointed needles, finishing a hat and weaving in ends

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is located behind the building with a driveway off of North St)

Description: In this class, you'll learn all the basics of knitting. This is a great class for a beginner or someone who knows the knit stitch and wants a refresh and to build on their skills. At the end of these two classes you’ll have learned all the skills that you need to finish this simple hat. 

Prerequisites: Knowing the knit stitch is helpful but not necessary. 

Techniques you will learn: Long Tail Cast On, knitting, purling, joining and working in the round, decreases, using double pointed needles, weaving in ends to finish your project

  • US Size 6 circular 16” knitting needles
  • US Size 6 double pointed knitting needles
