Let's dye with plants! In this class, we will explore dyeing fiber with flowers and kitchen scraps. Together we will prepare the fiber to dye, try various dye plants, and discuss care for your newly colorful fiber. With your new experience, you'll be ready to explore natural dyeing even more at home! All materials will be provided, just bring your own yarn to dye (or purchase some from the shop). Please bring yarn that is 100% natural fiber (no acrylic, as this will not absorb dye).

Teacher: Alyssa Welty

Alyssa Welty is a developing fiber artist who is enamored by hand crafts, sustainable making and building community through art. She is passionate about leaning into vulnerability through artistic expression, and embracing the imperfection in making. Allowing yourself to create without critique is a healing process and is infectious. Alyssa spins, dyes, knits, and sometimes dabbles in weaving and embroidery. She sources her fiber from U.S. based fiber farms, and often hand processes her fleeces. She loves being involved in every part of the process.
