Paint with wool! In this needle felting workshop teacher, Kathie, will walk you through all the skills necessary to make your own Beach landscape wool "painting". This 4" creation can be framed into a circle hoop or matted as a 4x6" painting.

Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street, accessible parking is located behind the building with a driveway off of North St) 

Teacher: Kathie Fitzsimons Beale

Kathie has been an artist and teacher for over 50 years. She spent 30 years teaching art mostly in the LaFayette NY school system. 12 years ago she saw her first wool felt painting while on vacation in Ireland and it was love at first sight! Kathie is now retired and has time to teach adults the joy of needle felting. She also enjoys selling her work and has won numerous regional and national awards (including best in show at the NY State Fair). Her work can be seen for sale at Skaneatles Artisan Gallery in Skaneatles, NY.

Max Number of Participants: 6

Skill Level: Absolute beginner.

This class is best suited for adults and kids ages 9+ with the supervision of an adult, as the sharp needles used need to move quite fast to shape and felt the wool. 

Prerequisites: None! You can come as an absolute beginner or someone who loves fiber and wants to join a class to enjoy community. 

Techniques you will learn: painting with wool, needle felting with wool, using wool and a barbed needle to create a picture of a personalized beach landscape scene 

What's Included:

• All supplies are included in the cost of class. You will have enough to make one beach landscape painting measuring 4" circle or 4x6" matted. 
• A frame if you decide to make a 4x6” matted version 

What You Need:

A willing to learn attitude. A photo of beach inspiration if you would like as a reference photo!
