This is a skill building class to add another tool to your toolbox when it comes to knitting socks. This class is for individuals with experience in sock knitting to learn a new technique. We will not be starting a sock project during this class, but learning the concept and practicing the techniques on a swatch. 
In this class participants will arrive with a 6x6" swatch. We will use the book "Knit 2 Socks in 1" to calculate the stitch count and length, using our gauge swatches. We will walk through the steps to create this unique 2 in 1 sock technique so you can apply it to your next sock project! You will learn about lifelines, after thought heels, picking stitches from a lifeline to work your heel, and more.

Teacher: Alyssa Welty

Alyssa Welty is a developing fiber artist who is enamored by hand crafts, sustainable making and building community through art. She is passionate about leaning into vulnerability through artistic expression, and embracing the imperfection in making. She finds allowing herself to create without critique to be a healing, infectious process. Alyssa spins, dyes, knits, and sometimes dabbles in weaving and embroidery.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Prerequisites: experience knitting socks

Techniques you will learn: adding a lifeline, picking up along a lifeline, calculating for a fit sock using gauge

What You Need:
  • 6x6" gauge swatch and the needles used for the swatch
  • You are encouraged to purchase your own copy of the book, "Knit 2 Socks in 1", as you will not be allowed to take photos of the resources for personal use.
