Tank Top or Short-Sleeved Shirt: Supported Knit Along (KAL)

Knit your own tank or tee this summer!

Have you always wanted to make your own wearable t-shirt or tank top? Start a project but don’t quite finish it? Join this supported knit-along! During the month of June we will knit alongside each other to finish a summer t-shirt or tank top. You choose your project, yarn, and sign up for class support if needed. We will meet Thursday evenings in June to encourage one another and knit together so we can finish these tops! Accountability and community commence!

Dates: Thursdays in June (6/6, 6/13, 6/20, 6/27)

Time: 6:30-8:30p

Location: The Corner Brew Event Space at 2 W Main Street in Dryden, NY (parking is available along Main Street)

Teacher: Chris Cushman

Description: In this supported Knit Along you'll work on a tee or tank pattern of your choosing with the goal to finish by July. There is no pressure to finish on time, but encouragement and accountability are offered through the knit along setting to finish a project. With Chris as your guide, you’ll sign up for every help session, or just the topics you need, and gain skills necessary to complete a summer top that fits your body.

6:45-7:45- content. Topics for that week are $10 to join and get hands on support

6:30-8:30- knit together! We will work on our summer tanks and tees alongside each other, share inspiration, encourage one another, and motivate each other towards finishing our summer top by the end of June!

Week 1 6/6: gauge, reading your pattern, figuring out your size, casting on

Week 2 6/13: splitting for the sleeves and how to avoid armpit holes, backwards cable cast on, body shaping if desired (busy darts, waist shaping) trying on your top for a fit check

Week 3 6/20: work week and open questions. You come with any specific questions and direct help you need for your tops.

Week 4 6/27:  finishing your projects, weaving in ends invisibly, seaming if necessary, blocking and sweater care

*You don’t need to sign up for every week of content. You can sign up for the whole series or just the sessions you want to learn more about. $10 goes towards teaching and refreshments for the month of June. If you only want to join the KAL and not benefit from teaching, you may choose that option for the entire month of June, $10 covers snacks and refreshments.

Prerequisites: knitting, purling, knitting in the round are helpful. This is not for absolute beginners. Participants should be comfortable with basic knitting skills. You do not need previous experience knitting wearable garments specifically.

Techniques you will learn: dependent on the pattern you choose!
